As much as I try to stay away from anything involving Armenians, I'm really proud of my heritage. I don't need to parade around with Armenian flag or outrageous so called "Armenian songs." I believe if you're true to the traditions and values and do your best to help those around you, it proves beyond doubt who you are as a person as well as your background.
My parents sacrificed so many years to send me to a private Armenian school. I went there for 15 years and even though I'm glad it's over (anyone going to the same place with the same people will definitely go mental!!), I still appreciate it so much. Yes I admit it lol! I even had the chance to go to Armenia as a senior trip, which is chance in a lifetime. If I'm ever successful, I would love to visit again as well as Lebanon.
These days, I try my best to be part of the community without being "corrupted." I'm so sick and tired of those people who look down on you just based on your looks and materialism. Just because I don't carry bloody Coach/Louis Vitton/etc or have a pimped out BMW or Mercedes doesn't make me any less Armenian ok?? That doesn't define anything!! I'm proud of what our ancestors have gone though, surviving the Genocide and still being here!!
I also enjoy the authentic Armenian music/culture...not the Russian/Rabiz techno you call music these days. Call me old fashioned but that's the way it was and it will always be. Speaking of which, I found this on youtube and I thought it was very well done!!
Dirty Dancing scene in Armenian music lol makes me wanna dance for sure!
lol anyway here's a little something for the wonderful
willow_wand. Your name in Armenian. :)

If anyone wants me to write their name in Armenian or even a phrase, I'll be more than happy to do it. I have nothing better to do :P
Hope everyone is well!!

You should never let anyone try to define the way you show your pride in your heritage. You're very lucky that your parents could do that for you, and I'm sure it was an awesome experience. :)
I don't. I just felt the need the let that out. It's so sad that it has come to that. I only have a few Armenian friends and that's enough for me lol.
It really was a great experience :) 10 days that went by in a flash.
Rupert just makes it all better ;)
Even better if he's naked! lol I'm so bad.
lol we're such crazed craddle robbers aren't we?
You've summed this up perfectly!
My Hubby is Persian and we've tried to raise our two boys with the riches of that culture but I often wonder how they'll interpret it as adults. Hopefully as well as you!
Lovely music!
Aww thanks! I know only a few Persion words. Wish I knew more.
Yes I love that music.
Also, can it be my name next? Kelly Van Rensbergen, if you please.
*hugs*
